What a glorious day. I love social media! The first thing I read this morning on Facebook is that Neil Corbett is going to run for Delta council! The South Delta Leader scooped up the story and had it on-line by 2:00 PM. Neil has also changed his Twitter profile to read:
Neil Corbett (above)
@swimbikerun86 Delta, BC
IM Triathlete, Tour de Delta Volunteer Director and
candidate for Delta Council! Follow me on my 2011
Penticton Ironman and Council Journey!
If you want to get a taste for Neil’s dedication and hard work, just follow his training program for a few days: he ran 14 Km on the dike this morning: yesterday, he went for a 50 KM training bike ride spin with one of the guys from the Tour de Delta teams (Team Exergy) followed by a 30 minute run; and Tuesday he rode 180 KM (Abbotsford and back). He did all of this and he is the official Tour de Delta race marshal. He is gearing up for two major races: Ironman in Penticton August 28, 2011 and Delta election November 19, 2011
Note: the Ironman is an endurance race for elite, hard core athletes. The athletes swim 3.8 Km, bike 180 Km and then top off their day with a 42 Km run. Fun, eh?
He is fun, but he isn't just fun: he's hard work, too, Tour de Delta testifies to that! He has been on the Parks Recreation and Culture commission for the past three years. We are lucky, he is as dedicated to Delta as much as he is to his hard core sports!
Today Ladner was the place to be. Tour de Delta is the best!

Funniest part of my day was, when I was watching the race with Heather and a TV reporter from Sechelt came up and asked Heather for an interview…..It’s election season! "Of course!", Heather said with a smile and then she realized that she didn’t have any lipstick on! Horrors! Was she worried about what to say? Nope, she knows her stuff. Was she nervous about being on TV? Nope, she’s got it under control. What was she worried about???? She was worried, because she didn’t have any lipstick on!
