Headquarters - in Historic Ladner Village:
Welcome to HQ!

Things are moving fast at HQ - Yikes only 25 more days to go!
  • Thursday Marsha & Heather picked up the keys & cleaned;
  • Friday afternoon HQ was open for business;
  • Saturday morning Heather gave her 3rd volunteer training session. 1st volunteer training session at HQ; &
  • Monday, today, when I talked to HQ there were at least 5 volunteers busy phoning!

This is Heather's fourth campaign, but it's her first HQ!
If you want to get involved or a lawn sign, give Heather a shout - there is plenty of work to share!

Headquarters is perfect:
  • it's right in the heart of historic Ladner,
  • it's in the centre of Delta,
  • it's a heritage building (thankfully it has running water, a toilet, and electricity),
  • Heather is the Vice-chair of the Heritage Advisory Commission, and drum roll please...,
  • it came painted in Heather's campaign colours (purple & green)
Thursday, October 20th - Cleaning Day!
Heather cleaning the windows with the infamous pink gloves!
Oh, just so you know, Heather is very much into recycling - she is using the beautiful pink rubber gloves that I purchased to wash Robert Campbell's Jaguar with!
To find out why I wanted to wash Robert's Jaguar read the blog!
In training to wash Robert's Jaguar  - wearing the pink rubber gloves!

It took me a long time to get the perfect shot of Heather vacuuming -- matter of fact she had to vacuum the entire place before I put my camera down!
Trick question:
snap, snap, flash, flash  vs. vacuum, scrub, scrub, wash, wash ....hummmm? What would you rather do?
We were having lots of fun and laughing. Heather assured us that she does not smile this much when she cleans at home!

DONE and ready to meet YOU!
HQ is open!
Monday to Friday 10 AM - 4 PM 4872 Delta Street

Bring your questions and concerns and have a cup of coffee.

Meet the "Delta Street Welcoming Committee"
Favourite part of Thursday was meeting the neighbours!
Yup it was even better than watching Heather clean.
Meet Monica Sanderson, she owns the tattoo studio inside Top Barbers - right next door to Heather's Campaign HQ!

Currently, Heather is tattoo free - we were trying to get her to select one from Monica's personal arm collection
A sampling of Monica's art
MONICA'S ELECTION SPECIAL!
I think we convinced Monica to offer an "Election Special" - half price if you get a "Heather 4 Mayor Tattoo"  .....

Here's Monica's business card - phone right away to make your appointment for your "Heather 4 Mayor Tattoo"

Meet Aerock Shandler the top barber at Top Barbers!

Heather is giving Aerock campaign literature for his customers to read while they wait for a haircut

Meet James Price the owner/operator of Ladner Village Hardware! Also know as the "Mayor of Ladner Village"!

James is a walking wealth of information - he disperses his knowledge with humour and a fair amount of good, old-fashioned storytelling.
I not so sure if I would believe his fish stories, but I would be totally entertained to hear them all!
Saturday's Training Session at HQ:
Heather is showing Laura the canvasser routes

Paul, a search and rescue guy - based out of Ladner Harbour, was teaching me about Ladner slough's dredging issues

I'm pretty sure Heather was teaching the volunteers how to make coffee

Heather with her "age appropriate" smart glasses (Don't you think she looks smarter with them on? I know she reads way better with them on!)

Ah, the Royal Throne Room (the actual throne is in a separate room - for security reasons?)

Have a question for the Mayoral Candidates? (Don't we all?)
Do you have any questions you would like to ask Delta's Mayoral candidates? There is a Mayor's debate on November 1st hosted by the South Delta Leader.
Please use this as an opportunity to send in your questions to the editor@southdeltaleader.com

My newest  heroes:
Without a doubt, the three from the "Delta Street Welcoming Committee" have to be added to my heroes list!

Also Carey Muir, the founder and co-director of Freshwave Ministries MUST be added!

Carey & the food pick-up van
Every Monday evening Carey and several other volunteers from Freshwave Ministries are on the streets handing out hot meals, groceries, bedding, and clothing to about 100 poor and homeless people in Vancouver’s downtown Westside.

Carey lives in Tsawwassen and was thrilled to have his very own Heather King lawn sign!

Thanks Carey, you are a real hero!

Follow Carey on Twitter @FreshwaveM.
Too funny, when I told Carey he was my hero in today's blog. He insisted that I take his photo with the lawn sign and showing everyone the Freshwave Ministries new jacket!
If you want your very on lawn sign, just call Heather 778 875-9494

Reluctantly, I'll have to make room on the heroes list by bumping Robert down, just four little spots.

Soooo sorry Robert, but I am sure you understand --
