Thank you, thank you for all your DM Tweets, emails, and phone calls.
My favourite quote, which I have heard at least 10 times is, "Don't quote me!" No matter how many times I hear it, it still makes me smile.

Thanks everyone for your help.

POP QUIZ #7

Review:
A) Last week we had POP QUIZ #6
What is wrong with this two-faced sign on the southeast corner of  Arthur Drive & 44th Avenue?

B)  POP QUIZ #6 answers & winners were announced a few days later. The winners were: Sylvia Bishop, Neil Corbett, and Bruce Douchette.

********Read their answers -- there are a zillion things wrong with this sign.

C) The sign is removed!
Friday, my friend Geoff phoned and and told met the sign had been removed!
AND Jean Pearce posted on Landers landing Facebook page:

Jean Pearce noticed the sign was gone this morning October 14 at 11:25am ·

Geoff sends me the picture. (Thank you Geoff)

D) A few hours later:
OK, I liked Geoff's photo, but I wanted one from a different angle and I had to head out that way anyways.  So I grabbed my camera and went out to take my own darn picture.

Huh, what gives? The sign was still up.

I called Geoff. He assured me he had the right corner. I didn't believe him.  He comes for dinner to discuss exactly where he took his picture (boys are clever).

We argue about the intersection -- are you sure it's 44th and Arthur?

Yes!

E) A few rounds of "Geoff is wrong; Barb is right" and "Barb is right; Geoff is wrong":

We decide to see who is righI grab my camera and we head off to see about the sign.

(Yup, Friday nights are exciting when you're over 50!)

F) 11 PM Friday, October 14th at 44th and Arthur!

Geoff shows me EXACTLY where he took the picture.

But the two-faced sign is up!

Gleefully I chant a few rounds of "Barb is right; Geoff is wrong"

But something is wrong.

G) The mystery and argument is solved - er sort of
Back home before going to bed,  I see a post on Ladner's Facebook page.
  • Linda Pearce the sign was back this afternoon - minus the "& court facilities". Why didn't they fix the whole thing while they were at it?
Huh, they took the sign down and put it up again?

  Good question LInda!!

H) Delta's  "new improved sign"
Before:
After:
Hint: they gave it a much needed scrub and removed & COURT FACILITIES from the second line.

Now for......... POP QUIZ #7

What is going on at Delta City Hall?

(I am not even sure if this is a rhetorical question or not, but I'm open to bumping Robert down on my heroes list for a few good answers.)

First they give us the two-faced pantyhose signs and then they pretend to "fix" it with a quick scrub and a band-aid. UGH. This is wrong on sooooo many levels, but as in any organization the standards and corporate culture start at the top and work their way down.

Wouldn't a standard of transparency, excellence, and customer service be a great place to start for our next Mayor?

Vote Heather King for Mayor

New Heroes:

Jean Pearce & Linda Pearce for their engagement on Ladners Landing Facebook page (are you two related?).

Geoff for knowing he was right even when he was wrong!

Tragically, I'll have to dump Robert (again) - mucho apologies!
