POP QUIZ #6 Answers
DELTA take note: signs are not like pantyhose! One size does not fit all!
What is wrong with this two-faced sign
on the southeast corner of Arthur Drive & 44th Avenue?
Before we get into the guts of the contest, I just gotta say, as a pseudo-writer, I am pretty smug with the symbolism that this two-faced sign represents. Seriously the parallelisms of this two-faced sign and Delta City Hall are pretty rich, even if you detest Willy Shakespeare!
Oh, to be perfectly clear:
*** There has been absolutely no attempt for this to be a fair contest.
***I thought it would be fun to change the rules after the contest started. (I have heard that sometimes, some departments at City Hall might appear to invent new hoops to jump through ........gee whiz it sure would be frustrating, if you were working with City Hall on a project!).
***This is my Barbeque, there is no appeal process, and my decision is final.
***Don't be deceived, the attempts for transparency are just a further mockery of my perception of City Hall's lack of transparency.
***I picked my winners way before the close of the contest. (OOPS, my bad)

Two-faced sign
Appearance is everything, but upon inspection the two-faced sign is not exactly the same on both sides. (Both are dirty, Southbound is dirtier; the arrows are the same, but pointing in different directions.)
However, both sides of the two-faced sign are: difficult to see, impossible to read, create their own sign-placement rules, wordy, present incorrect information, obsolete, and butt-ugly!
Note: Don't read too much into this grandiose parallelism. I do not think the present council is butt-ugly. Personally, I think Councillor Robert Campbell has dreamy eyes.

Here is Bruce's tweeted answer:
Here is Bruce's tweeted answer:
@Barb_2U@neilcorbett11 You Rock! I was thinking the sign should be blue. Green is so 70's...
To keep the contest transparent, I will show the points allocation:
Complemented Barb_2U - 2 points;
Showed good sportsmanship by complementing, Neil, his appointment - 2 points; Suggesting blue - 2 point;
Demonstrated his extensive knowledge of fashion 2 points; and green - 2 points;
Bonus: I have never met Bruce, but I love his tweets, they make me laugh - 5 points!
Way to go Bruce, you are my 14th Hero. (Wink, wink, I think you rock too!)

I liked Neil's answer, because he told me what was wrong and what the sign should read, so I randomly gave him double marks for a total of 9 points plus 11 bonus points for being transparent and tweeting his answers. NOTE: he didn't get bonus points because of his tweet, he got them because he was so transparent and his answers were available and easily accessible for ALL to see. Team players rise to the top.
1st place winner: 29 points!

Great questions.- 2 Points
So here are some of my observations:- 2 points (Clever girl leaves some wiggle room);
-northbound the sign is barely visible due to the hedge - 2 points;
-southbound it is on the wrong side of the street AND driver needs to know well in advance in order to get into the left hand turn lane - 2 points;
-sign is old - 1 point;
-too much information - 1 point;
-not in alphabetical order -2 points are they usually? Bonus for making me ask - 2 points;
-our transit service is reduced so call exchange 'swap from time to time' - 3 points for sarcasm and - 1 point; sensible advice and seizing opportunity to comment on our bus service;
-fires don't need administration, people do - 3 points for using her university degree;
-Ladner-Delta arena is the wrong name for the Ladner Leisure Centre - 2 points;
-sign doesn't face traffic from 44th coming onto Arthur Dr. @ intersection - 2 points
Then at 6:12 PM Sylvia sent me a PS. (which made me laugh, so I added a few points)
Sign fails to mention the Archives but maybe they are trying to save space and money.- 2 points; bonus - 2 points for even attempting to guess what they were thinking when they put up the sign. (Wonder what they will be thinking when the remove it!)
Does Delta really think that two-faced, obsolete signs are like pantyhose - one size, one style fits all?
Heroes alert: (Sorry Robert, bumped again!)
I am adding Linda Chamaschuk to my heroes list. If it weren't for Linda's comment on the
Ladners Landing Facebook wall, I wouldn't have known that this infamous, two-faced
sign even existed (Could it be location, location, location?). Thanks Linda!
Sylvia, Neil, Bruce, and Linda, you're all heroes for Delta!
Friday's Blog preview: On Tuesday, October 11, Heather went to the SFU Diwali Gala. It was a magical night. I snapped a few zillion photos.
